FAQs

Why does my dog have to attend an Interview?

This gives your dog the opportunity to get acclimated to the facility, staff and routine at Planet Bark. We also need the interview process in order to ensure all guests at Planet Bark have current vaccinations and are social enough to interact in a playgroup.

Why does my dog have to be spayed or neutered?

All of the guests who stay at Planet Bark will be socialized and exercised in playgroup. Therefore we cannot have guests who are not altered.

Male dogs that are not neutered tend to create more aggressive tendencies, such as posturing other males dogs, mounting, etc. This can create conflict in the playgroups.

Females not spayed will give off a scent (whether they are in heat or not) that will create conflict between the males in the playgroup. So, we have a requirement that all guests must be altered by the time they reach 7 months of age.

Can I schedule a New Dog Interview online?

Sure! We have a website that is very interactive for our customers. Just fill in the appropriate answers to our questions about your dog and select an interview date and time. Our crew will contact you to confirm.

Can my dog pick up communicable illnesses?

Anytime there is a communicable type of environment, it is always possible. Dogs in daycare can pass things to each other through water sources and playing. The best way to prevent and detect these issues is to regularly see your veterinarian.

What will my dogs routine be when it stays overnight?

A typical Overnight Boarding stay looks like this:
 TIME ACTIVITY
6:45 amWake-up and outside to playgroup
8:00 amInto kennel/suite for breakfast
9:00 amBack outside to playgroup
12:00 pmIn for naptime/snack time
2:00 pmAfternoon Playtime
5:00 pmInto kennel/suite for dinner
6:00 pmEvening Playtime
7:00 pmBack inside to kennel/suite and lights out

Why is there a Naptime?

Planet Bark feels that naptime is crucial for our overnight and daycare guests. It gives each guest a break from their friends and an opportunity to rest. During this time we can also provide lunch or snacks to your dog as you desire.

How do you conduct New Dog Interviews?

Interviews are scheduled on Monday through Thursday, with drop-off times at 8:00 AM, 9:00 AM, or 10:00 AM. You receive a free trial day of daycare, so be prepared to leave your dog with us for the day. This provides the time to assess your dog’s interaction with the other Planet Bark guests, and allows your dog time to acclimate to the playgroup.

Can I make a Boarding Reservation online?

Yes! Once your dog has become a member through the interview process, you can schedule any additional services you may want for your dog before departure, such as basic grooming, etc.

When my dog boards with you, do I need to bring my own food?

We recommend that every owner brings their dog’s food from home. Eating their own food can promote a consistent and settled digestive system which is extremely important to their comfort and well-being.

In the event that an owner forgets food or underestimates the meals, we offer house food for a small per meal charge.

Can my dog get minor injuries?

There is always a possibility that dogs can get minor cuts, scratches, etc, just because of the sheer nature of their play. Planet Bark does everything within our control by interviewing all new guests to eliminate aggressive dogs. We also have constant supervision of our playgroups by highly trained staff.

Can I call to check on my dog while I’m away?

Of course, we encourage it! We are happy to give you updates on your dog’s eating habits, activities and overall well-being. If you call outside of our normal operating hours, please leave us a message. We will give you a call back as soon as we can.
